HCR (Hockey Canada Registry) Validation FAQ

All players / coaches are required to enter their personal HCR # as part of the 2026-27 online player or coach registration process.

Below is information on how this new process works and how to obtain your HCR #:

Q: What is an HCR #?

A: An HCR number, or Hockey Canada Registration number, is a unique identifier assigned to players, coaches, and other participants in Hockey Canada-sanctioned programs. It's used for tracking and verifying membership, registration, and insurance purposes.

Q: I played or coached in SMHA hockey in 2025-26.  How do I obtain my HCR #?

A: You should not need to do anything to find your HCR # as it will populate in the Validator box when you get to that step.  If we have your HCR # on file, it will populate in the Validator. Click Validate to go to the next step.

Q: I played SMHA hockey or minor hockey in another MHA in 2025-26 and my HCR number is not pre-filled.  What do I do to obtain my HCR #?

A: Please follow the instructions below to locate your HCR #.

**For Registrants who have played minor hockey previously that need to look up their HCR #.**

You can find your Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) number in your Spordle Account

Your Hockey information is hosted within Spordle. If you have been registered in hockey before as a player, coach, trainer, and/or official, here is how to find your HOCKEY ID (HCR) #:

  • Step 1: Log in to your Spordle account using the link above (Spordle Account).

  • Step 2: Click the profile icon in the top right corner.

  • Step 3: On the left side of the page, select "Members"

  • Step 4: Select your participant from the icons labelled with player initials.

  • Step 5: Click "View Profile"

  • The Hockey Canada ID (HCR #) is directly below the player's name. HCR # will be 8-14 digits.

Q: My HCR # is not accepted after I hit Validate.  What do I do?

A: Please contact the SMHA office by email to make us aware.  The likely issue is an incorrect birthdate or incorrect postal code in the player's HCR profile so it is not matching the birthdate or postal code in your TeamLinkt profile. SMHA staff will edit and correct your birthdate / postal code in HCR and it should correct the issue.

Q: I am new to minor hockey (player or coach) and have never had an HCR #.  How do I obtain a HCR #?

A: If you are new to minor hockey and have never had an HCR #, please follow the instructions below on how to obtain your HCR #.

NEW TO MINOR HOCKEY AND DO NOT HAVE AN HCR # YET

**For new to hockey players and coaches only.** Follow the instructions below to obtain a HCR #:

  • To create your HCR #, please CLICK HERE to complete the HCR # Request A SMHA staff member will create the HCR # from your online request.

  • A SMHA staff member will email you your newly created HCR # that you can type into the Validator and register with your home zone.

Q: What happens after I hit Validate?

A: If all of your Hockey Canada waivers are up to date, you will proceed to the payment page of the registration process.  If there are waivers to be completed, they will pop up from Hockey Canada.  Please complete the waivers and then you will proceed on with finalizing the registration process.

If you have questions, please email the SMHA office at smha@sasktel.net

Thank you
